  1. What is a California Food Handler Card?
    A California Food Handler Card (CFH Card) is a certificate that you get after attending a food safety training course and passing the exam. It is required for all employees who are involved in the preparation, storage, or service of food in a food facility.
  2. Who needs to take the course?
    Just about anyone who works in the food service industry. This includes:

    • Chefs
    • Cooks
    • Bartenders
    • Host/hostesses that handle food
    • Bussers
    • Supervisors and managers
    • Food warehouse staff
    • Wait staff
  3. How long is the course?
    The course is approximately 3 hours long.
  1. How long is the certificate valid for?
    The certificate is valid for 3 years. After that time, you will need to take the course and exam again to get a new CFH Card issued to you.
  2. How many questions are there on the exam?
    There are 40 questions on the test.
  3. Is this course approved?
    Yes! The course has been accredited by ANSI which is recognized by the State of California. The only exceptions is for food service workers in Riverside or San Bernardino which have a different food handler program in place.
